ADA as it pertains to the Baxter Park Inn:
The Baxter Park Inn is a property whose physical building and website were both built before the current ADA requirements were put into effect, therefore, we have limited mobility access to both. Our staff and owners are on site daily to answer any questions or concerns that you may haveregarding your individual needs. For specific questions, please call Tim/Anne at 207-723-9777. We will be happy to answer any and all questions.
The hotel is comprised of 2 floors but does not offer an elevator. The first floor, however, is largely accessible by wheelchair with flat flooring and ramps from lobby and throughout the first floor.
There are 2 hotel rooms on the first floor which do meet some of the criteria for being handicapped accessible. These rooms are both large 2 Queen guest rooms and offer a larger living space/square footage amount of common area in which to move with a wheelchair. These 2 rooms have door entries (both bathroom and entry to room) at 35 1/2” wide. The bathrooms are outfitted with tall seated toilets with grab bars, wheelchair accessible sinks and showers with grab bars. One of the two rooms now has a brand new easy step-in shower system with shower seat available (neither of these rooms offer a roll-in shower/accessible tub). There are refrigerators and microwaves in both rooms, however, there are no handicapped phones available in either room.
We do offer a 3rd option, that is our 2 bedroom suite. This space is not as accessible as the other 2 rooms discussed, but we have had guests who use wheelchairs stay in this space and found it quite comfortable and easy to use. Again, all door widths in it are 35 1/2” wide. There is a large amount of living space, plenty of room to move inside with a wheelchair (and the space offers all wood/laminate/tile flooring). To access the suite, however requires a slight step up (approximately 4 inches). The bathroom is large and spacious with a tall seated toilets, however, the bathroom is not equipped with either a handicapped accessible shower or wheelchair accessible sink. This suite has a large kitchen area with full refrigerator and microwave. There is no handicapped accessible phone in the suite. Many former guests with disabilities have used this beautiful space and found it fit their needs nicely.
Again, if you have any questions regarding your specific needs and/or our ability to meet your needs, we would encourage you to call Tim/Anne at 207-723-9777. We look forward to serving you.
